Paris is a visual treat of stunning architecture and monuments, but the most interesting sights are the people.

As in my paintings I am drawn to spontaneous moments, those fleeting moments of interactions between people that happen wherever they gather, be they in a crowded city like Paris or on an empty New Zealand beach.

And then there are the unexpected juxtapositions of objects that create fascinating and surprising images - the mundane made more than the sum of its parts.

These images taken last September represent a moment in time - a very different pre-Covid moment of Parisian street life.
